Guild Ball (#32): ClogCon 2017 Shark vs Pin Vice - Nice Rolls There Shark

After the ClogCon 2017 Guild Ball Tournament is over, I have yet another crack at taking out Martin. This time, I bring Shark against Pin Vice, haven't tried a game against her before.

Fishermen

Just the box.

Shark
Salt
Angel
Greyscales
Kraken
Siren

Engineers

Pin Vice
Mother
Colossus
Hoist
Velocity
Ratchet

I kick off (boo) with Shark. My Plots are Brace for Impact, Field Dressing, and Wingback.

Turn 1

Shark: 5, Salt: 1, Angel: 1, Greyscales: 1, Kraken: 1, Siren: 3

I figure that maybe Shark can get the ball off Velocity. I should really have given him 6.

Shark actually does manage it! I need 6'es to hit, but manage a Stagger on the charge to get her down to 5+ defense. and then two Tackles. The ball ends up being passed to Greyscales. I am 3-0 on momentum and win the initiative. Great start!

Turn 2

My plan here is to score with Greyscales in the first activation, and then see if I can steal the ball back with Shark or Angel.

Shark: 6, Angel: 2, Greyscales: 4

Crazy turn. First, Greyscales taps it in.

The ball gets passed up to Pin Vice, who also scores. Siren also goes down. 8-6 to the Fishermen. I just need one more goal! Then I manage to get the ball to Angel, who scores again! 8-4 to the Fishermen!

Turn 3

You have one job, Shark! I need to get hold of the ball with Shark and get it to Greyscales or Angel.

Shark: 6, Angel: 2, Greyscales: 2, Salt: 1, Siren: 3

Don't remember exactly what happened first, but Colossus ends up with the ball. Shark goes in and needs to generate one single momentum, so that he can get up if knocked down on the counterattack. I roll 4 1's and get 0 net hits. Colossus rolls a knockdown on the counter-attack, and Shark falls on his ass with 4 unspent influence.

Possibly a misplay by me, maybe I should have charged, but 3 hits on 2+ should really be doable.

Colossus scores, and Siren is taken out again. Another mistake by me to place her so close so that she could die. I lose again! 12-8 to the Engineers.

Post Mortem

Some terrible dice sealed the deal here, but I could easily have avoided getting Siren taken out twice, possibly giving me another chance to score next turn. This cannot stand, Martin, there will be a grudge match on BonesCon!
