DM 2012 - Game 2 - Nemo2 vs Kraye

Long jack threat ranges and even longer jack threat ranges. Who will hit first?

The list:

Kraye (Michael Glerup)
- Cyclone
- Stormclad
- Rowdy
- Minuteman
- Squire.
Jr.
3 Stormlances
Laddermoore
Black 13

The game:

This game unfortunately went rather one-sided after my opponent thought too hard, messed up his turns with some bad moves, and had some bad luck as well. So I'll just give the highlights.

Gun mages got Terror, and the Storm lances failed their command check when charging them,  splitting the unit in two and essentially putting them out of the game.

Cyclone got Full Tilt and charged out of his lines into one of my jacks, doing little damage. He told me the plan was to throw my jack away... but that can't be done after a charge.

I proceeded to kill the Cyclone.

He had to move Rowdy up to contest, so I dismantled him too. Also I dismounted Laddermoore. At this point he had lost a lot and I had lost almost nothing. It was really all over.

The result:

The game ended with me moving up to Pulse at Kraye and Black 13, finishing Kraye off with boxcars on a Stormcall. I guess I should have grinded for control points, but well.

Michael was a really friendly guy, and I felt rather bad for him afterwards... I know how annoying it is to overthink and then mess up. I hope we can get a rematch some time!

DM 2012 - Game 1 - Caine2 vs Haley1

I chose my Caine2 list, since my Nemo2 list is pretty bad against Stormwalls. I was wondering if my strategy would work. Turns out, it didn't work all that well...

The list:

Haley1 (Søren Husum).
Stormwall
Storm Strider
Sentinel
2 Stormcaller
Squire
4 Mechanics
10 Precursor + UA
Jr

Reinforcements: Gorman, Hunter, Storm Tower.

My opponent was a very skilled and gracious player, I really enjoyed the game even if I got my ass handed to me in short order.

The game:

He moved up.

I shot the Strider with the Hunter and killed the repair leader with Magic Bullet. Rangers got Blur.

Some of my stuff got zapped by the Strider. His reinforcements cleared out my Risen.

I killed the Storm Strider with Rowdy and moved my Sword Knights into the zone.
I killed most of his reinforcements.

He shot more of my stuff. Precursors were winning against the Sword Knights.

The time came to try to kill the Stormwall. Unfortunately, I forgot about Arcane Vortex. So, Harm failed, and Shield Guard meant I could not strip the Arcane Shield, which would give it too much armor. So, I shot away the Sentinel instead.
He responded by podding both Gorman and Aiyana, serves me right for putting them in a line... :D. By this time I had nothing to kill the Stormwall with.

The result:

I lost on running out of time, but the game was lost anyway.

Haley1 brick is hard to kill, dammit! Especially against such a good player. I wish I had brought Ragman instead of Arlan, I needed even more debuffs with all those defenses. Maybe I should have tried to flank around it, I don't know. It was a good game, even though I was crushed.

So, now I'm 0-1 and hungry for a victory!

Update: NOK 97 for å completely ordinary beer at Rygge airport. WTF. I skipped buying the single slice of bread with shrimp on it for 129,-. How is it possible to ask prices like that?

Update: OK, I'm sorry for not updating yet. I was rather busy with playing, eating and drinking. But I took some notes, battle reports are forthcoming.

Testing the Caine2 list

So, what I usually like to do when testing a list is to just start playing games against veraious lists until I get the hang of it, and then see whether I need to switch something out.

So, now I've played:

  • Skorne (Zaal) - Double cannoneer ranged list. Win on assasination after Rowdy Tremored to open LOS through the Skorne brick and Knockdown Zaal.
  • Khador (Sorcha2) - WGDS / Kayazy list. Win on attrition. Iron Flesh is not so great against Rangers and a horde of RAT 7-9 models. :D
  • Circle (Krueger1) - Three heavies, double Stones, Bloodtrackers, Slaughterhousers. Undecided, Outland closed. :D It was fairly tight, though I think I had a slight disadvantage... Caine2 with lots of low armor is not so good against Krueger1, if it had been a tournament I would have picked the other list.

Things to note:

  • Magic bullet does not work on Eyriss. :D
  • It works wonders with a Sniped Hunter, though... great for removing key support models. :D
  • Placement is pretty hard with so many solos walking around. More practice is needed!
  • Ryan is sooo good with Risen!

I'll keep updating this post with further results.

Trollblood Scrum articles on playing at low points

The articles go in some detail about these models:

Very interesting series of articles, especially since I'm working on making some 35 pt lists right now!

Going to Danish Masters 2012

I got one of the open spots in the WARMACHINE/HORDES Danish Masters 2012, and plane tickets are now bought! If anyone else wants to join, check the threads on BattleGroup.DK: http://www.battlegroup.dk/forum/viewforum.php?f=12. There are still some more open spots.

I found really cheap plane tickets with RyanAir. I'm going down and Friday, August 31th and back on Monday.

Also, I need some practice, especially with the Caine2 list, and even more especially against Collossi. Get in touch if you want a game!

How to edit iBodger on Android

Unfortunately, War Room does not support correct army list creation, and is also extremely slow and buggy on my phone. With the far superior iBodger tool no longer being developed, I sat down and tried to figure out how to edit the army list in iBodger on Android. You need to have iBodger already installed, or get it from a friend. Theme forces cannot be edited, since they are in code.

Update: Someone made a list of the changes you need to make to the mk2stats.txt file to add the models from Colossals. Wohoo, I can make army lists quickly again!

http://pairadicegamesllc.com/forum/index.php?topic=1031.msg7455

Editing the iBodger data file

These steps worked for me:
  • Get the Apk Manager for your PC from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701, and install it.
  • Install ES File Explorer from Google play, select iBodger and back it up.
  • Put your Android device in development mode. On my HTC it is found under:
Menu -> Settings -> Developer options -> USB debugging
But I would guess this could vary between models.
  • Connect your Android device to your PC and copy \backups\apps\iBodger-4.1.0.apk to \APK_MultiTool\place-apk-here-for-modding
  • Run  \APK_MultiTool\setup.bat and do the setup.
  • Run  \APK_MultiTool\script.bat and choose Decompile APK (option 9).
  • The data file is now in APK_MultiTool\projects\iBodger_4.1.0.apk\res\raw
  • Edit mk2stats.txt to add the new units. I used Notepad++.
  • Uninstall iBodger, because I don't have the original signing key. THIS WILL REMOVE YOUR ARMY LISTS.
  • Go back to script.bat and choose Compile apk / Sign apk / Install apk (option 14)
  • After this, you can just edit the file and compile again, the army lists will not be removed when you do thid.
If everything works alright, iBodger is now updated with the new army list. It worked for me, at least! Any tips on how to do this without uninstalling iBodger or without losing the army lists is appreciated. :D

The iBodger data format

This is my best guess on the data format in mk2stats.txt:

There are two rows per model / unit.

The first row contains the following values in comma separated order:
  1. 2 letter code - Book the model appeared in.
  2. 1 letter code - Faction.
  3. Model name.
  4. Point cost.
    • Warcaster: '+warjack_points(model_count)'
    • Min/max size unit: 'min_points(min_size)/max_points(max_size)'
    • One size unit / single model: 'points'
  5. FA
  6. Base movement speed
  7. 1 letter code - base size 'S/M/L/H'
  8. Some more codes. C = Command stat, F = Focus/Fury stat, T = Threshold stat (thanks Whicken).
The second row contains the following values:
  1. An unique 2 letter ID for the model on the format ampersand - space - id, '@ id'.
  2. The Battle College page for the model.
  3. a series of 1 letter codes for the factions that can include the model.
  4. a list of special abilities and categories, probably for theme force restrictions, UAs and so on.
